Review for Garnier Fresh Essential Eye Makeup Remover

Dearest Ladies,

I am back! And I am going to ease my way back into the blogging world slowly. I must say though, I have recently been added to a number of beauty groups which really inspired me to pick up where I left off.

I’m starting off with review of a product I have found to be very useful and effective. I have tried a number of eye make up removers, a couple of them were by Nivea. This is a review of the Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover. Since then I tried more eye makeup removers and had then fallen in love with this one by Clinians:

Until very recently, I believed that the Clinians one was the best I’d find. And then came Garnier!

Out of all the eye makeup removers that I have tried, this is the only one that actually gives me a cooling feeling on the eyes. My eyes do not feel dry after using it but rather, refreshed! This make up remover is very gentle on the most sensitive of eyes (mine!) and does not leave the under eye area feeling ‘tight’.

I have not yet tried it on waterproof makeup as I am generally not a big fan of waterproof mascara but do let me know how it performed if you used it for waterproof makeup.

The only downside to this when compared to eye makeup removers from Nivea (as an example) is the price tag. This one cost me €8.00 and I’m pretty sure the ones by Nivea are much cheaper.

However, I still think this is a fantastic product and I am willing to pay more for a product like this one.

Have you ever used any products by Garnier? This is my first and I’m really loving it! Let me know what you think of this brand in the comment section.

P.S. I’d love to hear what you’d like to see in future posts 🙂

Favourite products at the time

Dearest Ladies,

It’s been a while since I posted on this blog but a few days ago one of my readers made me more aware of this and it sparked a (small) fire for me to post once again. Today I will be mentioning 5 products and a pair of earrings which I have been reaching for very often.
These are the products below…

Pupa Milano Professionals BB Cream + Anti-Eta’

I was given this product by Pupa Milano in Malta and to be honest I never thought I would like this this much. Mine is in shade 001 Nude. It has SPF 30 which is always a good thing and makes me skip one thing from my routine. It is oil free which makes it perfect for all skin types. It gives a medium coverage which is enough for every day use without being to heavy on the skin. This has become my go to daytime product and has replaced the use of foundation. Oh, and it has a really nice smell… sort of fruity.

Max Factor Masterpiece Transform High Impact Volumising Mascara

I love this mascara because it makes my tiny lashes appear and look transformed as the name says. It does not give me great length but gives me darkness and volume.

I know the picture quality is very poor (I had to use my selfie camera) but here’s me without mascara and me wearing 2 coats of the Max Factor Masterpiece Transform High Impact Volumising Mascara.

Rimmel London Wonder’full Mascara with Argan Oil

This mascara is a basic day to day mascara I use. Unlike the previous mascara, this one gives me length but not enough volume. However I feel that it is good for every day use and gives very natural looking lashes even if the picture below does not show this clearly. The first picture is me without any mascara.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear nail color in 170 hot tamale

This colour is so vibrant and solid that I was asked more than once whether I have gelish on while wearing this. I got complimented on this colour several times and it looks great in summer. The colour is a tinge more closer to orange than the way it shows up in the picture as it is hard to capture the colour on camera.

Pupa Milano New Chic Brilliant Lipstick in 38

This is a coral to red lipstick that suits me and my skin tone well. It’s great for summer as well. The only downside to this is that it doesn’t stay long on the lips and that kind of bothers me because I rarely reapply my lipstick when I’m out. Once I’m out, I’m out and I don’t usually retouch my make up unless I have smudged eyeliner.

Parfois Earrings

I have been wearing these quite often and I got compliments about them too. I think I got them on sale a while ago. I will definitely be using these as they have become one of my favourite pairs.

That is all from my side… I hope you enjoyed this post.
Have you tried any of these products yourself? What did you think of them? Leave your comments down below.

Most used products in 2014

Dearest Ladies,

I hope January is being kind to you and I wish you luck if January means you have exams coming up!

Over the past year, I haven’t written many reviews so I thought I would list a number of products which I enjoyed last year and used religiously. I tried to include a bit of everything to get a general idea of what I liked. These were my go to products last year:

  •  NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in 02 Soft Beige
  • Vivo Blush with Highlighter duo in Shade 3 Sweet Peach
  • MAC Frost lipstick in Jist A23
  • Pupa Milano I’m Lipstick in 308 Burgundy
  • Wjcon Lasting colour stick eyeshadow in tiger eye 04
  • Wjcon Lasting colour stick eyeshadow in rose quartz 03
  • Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
  • Essence longlasting eye pencil in 01 black fever
  • e.l.f. Makeup Remover pen
  • e.l.f. Small Angled Brush (for eyebrows)
  • Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (+ most of their core collection and starter set)
  • Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish (I don’t have this one’s number)
  • Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish in 026 California Soul
  • Pupa Milano Gel Top Coat
  • K Co Brow Powder

And to start with Face products…

NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in 02 Soft Beige

I have been using this foundation for over a year. I like it because it matches my skin tone perfectly, is light weight but gives good coverage. Definitely worth a try!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (+ most of their core collection and starter set)

While I love my e.l.f. brushes (I’ve written all about them here), I think I prefer the Real Techniques brushes as I have never had any shedding and I have had them for almost 2 years. I think out of all of them, my favourite is the Expert face brush (which is NOT in the core collection). From the eye set, my favourites have to be the Deluxe Crease Brush and the Base Shadow Brush which is really soft and fluffy.

Vivo Blush with Highlighter duo in Shade 3 Sweet Peach

I love this blush for everyday use and I have finally hit pan. I have nothing similar to this shade and I find that it is quite natural and fits my complexion. I must say that I have so gotten used to this blush, that when I wore a different one, I thought it looked strange on my face. While I love it, I look forward to finishing it so that I move on to other blushes that I haven’t used yet.

And now for Eye products…

Wjcon Lasting colour stick eyeshadow in tiger eye 04 and rose quartz 03

I must say that I really love these products. I use them when I am in a hurry but still want to look like I made an effort. With just these two shadow, I manage to create a simple smokey eye which is wearable day and night. If you want to read more about why I love eyeshadow sticks, click here.

Essence longlasting eye pencil in 01 black fever

This is my go to eyeliner. I have never tried an eyeliner that is better than this especially for applying on the waterline. This doesn’t smudge and I have rather teary eyes but I have never had any problems with this. It’s also really affordable.

e.l.f. Small Angled Brush and K Co Brow Powder

This is a combination of products which I use every single day. I love the brush because it is small enough to give me control over my very thin brows. I also love the brow powder and I have written about it here.

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara

This is a fantastic mascara. I have very short and light lashes and this manages to give me length, volume and darkness with just a couple of coats. It has a big wand and has normal bristles (it is not made out of plastic or silicone). If you have tiny lashes but like them to show more and in a lovely volumized way, try this out.

e.l.f. Makeup Remover pen

This is a lifesaver when you ruin your liquid eyeliner. It solves the problem instantly and cleans your face up nicely! Definitely a must have! You can get it off the e.l.f. website and I have a hunch that it was actually cheaper on iherb.

And now, Lips…

MAC Frost lipstick in Jist A23

I love this lipstick. It is my first MAC lipstick and the colour is really one of a kind. It has an orange tinge to it which seems to look good with my skin tone. I wear this almost everytime I have a formal occasion as it is quite dressy.

Pupa Milano I’m Lipstick in 308 Burgundy

I had been looking for a dark red lipstick and then Pupa Milano Malta sent me three of their I’m lipsticks. Out of the three, this is my favourite and I have used it quite a bit over the holidays.

And finally, Nail polish…

Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish (Red)

This is a lovely red polish which I have used regularly this year. It was given to me by Pupa Milano Malta and I have really enjoyed it as to me it is the perfect red for a nail polish. I’ve always used this with the Pupa Milano Gel Top Coat as without it, it didn’t last as long.

Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish in 026 California Soul

I actually got this quite recently from Sicily. You can read more about what I got from Sicily here. I haven’t used it much in 2014 simply because I got it in December, but I will definitely use it up this year. This is how it looked on my nails after 9 days, thanks to the Pupa Milano Gel Top Coat. I was given the top coat by Pupa Milano Malta and have always used it with these polishes. It is incredible how long nail polish lasts using this combination of products.

That’s all from my 2014 favourites! Do we have any in common? What have you enjoyed using last year? Let me know in the comment section.

Until the next post…

Happy New Year + Sicily Makeup Haul

Dearest Ladies,

First of all, I’d like to wish you a very Happy New Year! 🙂
I spent New Year’s Eve in a square near the duomo in Catania where a concert was being held. We had champagne and sparklers in our bags to celebrate after the countdown. At the countdown there were some amazing fireworks… As for the dress code, the idea was not to freeze to death!

Once again, it has been a while since I blogged but having just returned from Sicily for a holiday with my parents, I thought it would be the time to post a small haul for makeup and beauty products. Sicily was great fun and me and my mum did a lot of shopping but I didn’t get too many products. I must say that I regret not getting a gift pack from Bottega Verde, especially once they went on sale… but my luggage was quite full. I also regret not getting more Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polishes as they were much cheaper than from Malta.

This is what I got…

From Pupa Milano…

I had already tried the Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish here and I also have the gel top coat, so when I saw them I picked up another colour.

Since I used to work with Pupa Milano, I know about the wonders of the Vamp! Mascara. I have it in purple as it was given to me as a gift but it was time to get it in black, so I did.

I also got this make up kit for my fiancé’s mother:

From Kiko I got a concealer (which I needed on the trip) and an eyeshadow stick for myself and a lipstick and an eyeliner for my sister. I love eyeshadow sticks and I find them very practical to create a quick look. I wrote about why you’ll like them here.

While in a shop for decorative items for homes, there was a small stand for a brand called Stillday. My nail polish was chipping so when I saw nail polish I picked up this blue colour and nail polish remover since I didn’t have with me and redid my nails when I was back at the hotel. The nail polish was so cheap… some 1 or 1.50 euros and the nail polish remover was around 2 euros.

Because of the cold weather, my lips started to get dry and chapped and while I did have lipbalms with me, they were not doing the job. I popped in Bottega Verde and chose this one with Argan oil. I must say it’s really effective and the burning sensation I had on my lips was gone in a few hours after a couple of applications.

That’s all! I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope I’ll be able to post again soon. I might be posting a few photos from the trip as there was quite some beautiful scenery.

P.S.  If you would like the specific number (for colour) for any product, leave a comment down below.

Would you rather…

Dearest Ladies,

I hope the week is being kind to you! I am finally feeling more relaxed, and I can focus all of my energy on an exam which I will be sitting for soon, and on my dissertation! (Yay…) But I will be blogging in my deserved breaks 🙂

Today I have something different for you… It’s actually a really fun post which I saw on The Oxford Owl, which is another blog  I have discovered just this week! I will be answering a number of “Would you rather” questions which were provided! 🙂 I really hope you enjoy reading my answers and feel free to answer it on your blog and share the link in the comment section below!

Here we go…

1. Would you rather lose all your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

I would rather lose eyeshadows and palettes. I can make a look work without they anyway, but I cannot do much with JUST eyeshadow 🙂 I don’t have any glosses to lose anyway but with just mascara, eyeliner and lipstick, I can still pull off a decent look, and so can you!

This is one of my simplest, everyday looks (no eyeshadow was used!): Click Me!

Simple and Natural!

2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

I would rather chop it all off! After all it will grow back IF I choose this option.

P.S. I did chop all of my hair off, a number of times – and I’ll probably do it again!
But I’m in the ‘long-hair’ phase now and I kinda like it 🙂

Blast from the past:

3-4 years ago 🙂

me being ‘funny’ and a chicken nugget – approx 5 years ago!

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

That’s a weird question, isn’t it? Who cares? haha
But if I HAVE To choose, probably coral – I might need lighter coloured hair and blue eyes to go with it though 😛

4. If you had 1,000$ to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

Probably clothes… But if I had the option (which I don’t), I would be boring and save it – I’m saving up for a number of things at the moment, I’ll let you know all about it in due time 😉

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick?

I would rather not do any of these… :O
I think lipstick is usually too creamy to be worn on the lids, unless it’s a matte lipstick and is therefore a tad drier. I guess I’d wear eyeliner as lipstick if I HAD TO – I hope I won’t have to…

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

Both are quite awesome, right? I’ve shopped at MAC when in London and I liked their items so much… So if I HAVE TO choose just one, I’d try the brand I have already tried. I’m almost sure I’ll like Sephora too though… :/

I got the little bath tub from Sephora – but I didn’t get any products…

7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?

Well if I have a neutral lipstick, I can do any look with it… and with just black eyeshadow, there are still a number of things you can do. This is tough, but I choose ONE lipstick, just in case I feel like something different on my eyes.

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in the summer or summer clothes in winter?

Neither. But, winter clothes in summer – I’d rather be a bit sweaty then shiver to death! 🙂

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Well… I’d say nude is better but it’s neither dark nor bright. So I choose Dark. If I chose Bright, it would be a Red shade… but what if I get fed up of it? I get fed up of my nail polish colour twice weekly 😛

As you know, I am a bit obsessed – click this link if you forgot how obsessed I am:  I am obsessed.

10. Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?

I’d give up my favourite lip product. That can be replaced, favourite eye product(s), not so much!

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

A messy bun if it’s Summer time – I’d need to learn how to do it though. I can only wear my hair in a neat bun, using the donut! (See tutorial here)

12. Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss?

Lipgloss – I don’t use it anyway!

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or Sharpie them in everyday?

Erm… My brows are naturally a too thin, and it’s not cause I over pluck. I would love to improve their shape, but a Sharpie Permanent Marker? :O Still, it’s better than no brows at all, I guess! I’ll see if I can make it work, but it’s ‘permanent’!

14. Would you rather live without makeup or nailpolish?

This is hard… I need make up more than I need nail polish. Well, NEED is not a good word… Make up gives me a boost, it enhances my features. So yes, I can look a lot better with makeup, and well, I CAN live withOUT nail polish – It’ll make me make sure my nails look naturally great 😉

I really hope you liked this post 🙂 I’m off to another date with my dear boyfriend – check out what I wore to the last one by clicking here: OOTD – Date Night + Handbag Tag

It’s finally SUSHI night again 😀

I really hope I do not have any dumb mistakes, I’m soon heading out and I didn’t have time to proofread this one – OOPS! I just wanted to post it,  cause if I postpone… well, you know what happens! Forgive me if I have sinful typos and such.
