My Current Favourites

Dearest Ladies,

Today I’m back with a post about my current favourite products. Some of them might be relatively new in my collection, while others are products that I rediscovered.

Take a look at the products I’m going to mention today…

1

The first product I’m going to mention is one that I had also mentioned in my most recent “Favourite products at the time” post.

Pupa Milano Professionals BB Cream + Anti-Eta’

This product has become my go to product. I use this everyday especially because I usually want something lighter than foundation for everyday but would still like a little bit of coverage. I’m also happy about the fact that it has SPF30. Oh, and it smells fantastic!

2

Clinians HYDRA BASIC Moisturizing Mattifying Face Cream with Apple Water and Zinc

I bought this product on a whim… I urgently needed something moisturizing for my under eyes but as I was looking I saw this face cream and thought it might be a good idea to try it out as well. The product comes in a small glass jar and the cream itself is a pale green. It feels very refreshing on the skin and has a faint fresh smell which I can’t quite put my finger on. I don’t always use this in the morning but when I do, it gets absorbed by the skin rather quickly.

3

ELIE SAAB le parfum

This was a gift… one of those gifts that I hinted for 😛 I had tried a tester of this perfume and totally fell in love with it and then came the next Christmas or Birthday… and as I had hoped, I got it as a present. I’m not very good at describing perfumes but I can say that it has a sophisticated scent.

4

I strongly suggest that you go to your closest perfumery and try this out especially if you want to give a loved one a gift they’ll enjoy.

Essence lipliner  shade: 11 in the nude

I apologize but I couldn’t photograph this one well because the text is starting to wear off off the pencil. This is a very basic nude lipliner which I am currently really enjoying using on its own. Stays on for quite a while and looks just right with my skintone. I will definitely try to take a picture the next time I wear it. Oh, and since it was from essence I’m sure it was a steal!

Essence liquid ink eyeliner

I thought I’d give this a try after having seen many bloggers saying good things about it. It has a simple brush applicator that does the job well and is easy to use if you want detail and precision. While I have never tried it myself, there is also the waterproof version of this which comes in blue/black packaging.

KIKO Milano Soft Focus Concealer in shade: 02

I bought this when I was abroad as I had ran out or forgotten to take concealer. I remember the salesman putting it on me after a day full of shopping. I was tired and this definitely gave my undereyes a little wake me up. It’s a pretty regular concealer, nothing out of this world but it does the job. Reminds me of the Catrice Re-Touch Light Reflecting Concealer since the packaging is identical except that for this one you press the bottom of the pen instead of twisting it.

e.l.f. Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder

I had this for ages and at the moment I am going through a phase where I’m trying not to buy any new makeup unless I really have to. I have therefore ran out of most of my blushes and decided to give this a try once again. I actually love the blusher. I am not usually keen on shimmer but it doesn’t bother me in this one and I have been using it daily. In a way it highlights the face as well.

I haven’t been using the bronzing powder it comes with because it is also shimmery which is something I’m not sure I can live with.

10

P.S. This is the first one e.l.f. had. If I remember correctly, after this one they had a range of similar duos in different shades and some of them were cream products.

MAC lipstick in JIST

11

This is by far my most favourite lipstick in my collection. It is the only MAC one but is always the one that saves the day. When I am in doubt about what colour to go for, I go for this. It’s perfect with a dark smokey eye look. This is a frost lipstick and I think goes very well with my complexion especially now that my hair is more coppery toned.

That’s all I have to say for today! I hope you found this post helpful especially if you are looking for something in particular which I happened to mention.

P.S. Here is my updated self in cartoon thanks to Bitstrips. Yes, I wear glasses now!

Do you use any of these products? Which ones do you like and which ones not so much?
I’d love to hear about it in the comment section.

Love,
M.

Review for Garnier Fresh Essential Eye Makeup Remover

Dearest Ladies,

I am back! And I am going to ease my way back into the blogging world slowly. I must say though, I have recently been added to a number of beauty groups which really inspired me to pick up where I left off.

I’m starting off with review of a product I have found to be very useful and effective. I have tried a number of eye make up removers, a couple of them were by Nivea. This is a review of the Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover. Since then I tried more eye makeup removers and had then fallen in love with this one by Clinians:

Until very recently, I believed that the Clinians one was the best I’d find. And then came Garnier!

Ribbet

Out of all the eye makeup removers that I have tried, this is the only one that actually gives me a cooling feeling on the eyes. My eyes do not feel dry after using it but rather, refreshed! This make up remover is very gentle on the most sensitive of eyes (mine!) and does not leave the under eye area feeling ‘tight’.

I have not yet tried it on waterproof makeup as I am generally not a big fan of waterproof mascara but do let me know how it performed if you used it for waterproof makeup.

The only downside to this when compared to eye makeup removers from Nivea (as an example) is the price tag. This one cost me €8.00 and I’m pretty sure the ones by Nivea are much cheaper.

However, I still think this is a fantastic product and I am willing to pay more for a product like this one.

Have you ever used any products by Garnier? This is my first and I’m really loving it! Let me know what you think of this brand in the comment section.

Love,
M.

P.S. I’d love to hear what you’d like to see in future posts 🙂

Most used products in 2014

Dearest Ladies,

I hope January is being kind to you and I wish you luck if January means you have exams coming up!

Over the past year, I haven’t written many reviews so I thought I would list a number of products which I enjoyed last year and used religiously. I tried to include a bit of everything to get a general idea of what I liked. These were my go to products last year:

  •  NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in 02 Soft Beige
  • Vivo Blush with Highlighter duo in Shade 3 Sweet Peach
  • MAC Frost lipstick in Jist A23
  • Pupa Milano I’m Lipstick in 308 Burgundy
  • Wjcon Lasting colour stick eyeshadow in tiger eye 04
  • Wjcon Lasting colour stick eyeshadow in rose quartz 03
  • Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
  • Essence longlasting eye pencil in 01 black fever
  • e.l.f. Makeup Remover pen
  • e.l.f. Small Angled Brush (for eyebrows)
  • Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (+ most of their core collection and starter set)
  • Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish (I don’t have this one’s number)
  • Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish in 026 California Soul
  • Pupa Milano Gel Top Coat
  • K Co Brow Powder

And to start with Face products…

NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in 02 Soft Beige

I have been using this foundation for over a year. I like it because it matches my skin tone perfectly, is light weight but gives good coverage. Definitely worth a try!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (+ most of their core collection and starter set)

While I love my e.l.f. brushes (I’ve written all about them here), I think I prefer the Real Techniques brushes as I have never had any shedding and I have had them for almost 2 years. I think out of all of them, my favourite is the Expert face brush (which is NOT in the core collection). From the eye set, my favourites have to be the Deluxe Crease Brush and the Base Shadow Brush which is really soft and fluffy.

Vivo Blush with Highlighter duo in Shade 3 Sweet Peach

I love this blush for everyday use and I have finally hit pan. I have nothing similar to this shade and I find that it is quite natural and fits my complexion. I must say that I have so gotten used to this blush, that when I wore a different one, I thought it looked strange on my face. While I love it, I look forward to finishing it so that I move on to other blushes that I haven’t used yet.

And now for Eye products…

Wjcon Lasting colour stick eyeshadow in tiger eye 04 and rose quartz 03

I must say that I really love these products. I use them when I am in a hurry but still want to look like I made an effort. With just these two shadow, I manage to create a simple smokey eye which is wearable day and night. If you want to read more about why I love eyeshadow sticks, click here.

Essence longlasting eye pencil in 01 black fever

This is my go to eyeliner. I have never tried an eyeliner that is better than this especially for applying on the waterline. This doesn’t smudge and I have rather teary eyes but I have never had any problems with this. It’s also really affordable.

e.l.f. Small Angled Brush and K Co Brow Powder

This is a combination of products which I use every single day. I love the brush because it is small enough to give me control over my very thin brows. I also love the brow powder and I have written about it here.

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara

This is a fantastic mascara. I have very short and light lashes and this manages to give me length, volume and darkness with just a couple of coats. It has a big wand and has normal bristles (it is not made out of plastic or silicone). If you have tiny lashes but like them to show more and in a lovely volumized way, try this out.

e.l.f. Makeup Remover pen

This is a lifesaver when you ruin your liquid eyeliner. It solves the problem instantly and cleans your face up nicely! Definitely a must have! You can get it off the e.l.f. website and I have a hunch that it was actually cheaper on iherb.

And now, Lips…

MAC Frost lipstick in Jist A23

I love this lipstick. It is my first MAC lipstick and the colour is really one of a kind. It has an orange tinge to it which seems to look good with my skin tone. I wear this almost everytime I have a formal occasion as it is quite dressy.

Pupa Milano I’m Lipstick in 308 Burgundy

I had been looking for a dark red lipstick and then Pupa Milano Malta sent me three of their I’m lipsticks. Out of the three, this is my favourite and I have used it quite a bit over the holidays.

And finally, Nail polish…

Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish (Red)

This is a lovely red polish which I have used regularly this year. It was given to me by Pupa Milano Malta and I have really enjoyed it as to me it is the perfect red for a nail polish. I’ve always used this with the Pupa Milano Gel Top Coat as without it, it didn’t last as long.

Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish in 026 California Soul

I actually got this quite recently from Sicily. You can read more about what I got from Sicily here. I haven’t used it much in 2014 simply because I got it in December, but I will definitely use it up this year. This is how it looked on my nails after 9 days, thanks to the Pupa Milano Gel Top Coat. I was given the top coat by Pupa Milano Malta and have always used it with these polishes. It is incredible how long nail polish lasts using this combination of products.

That’s all from my 2014 favourites! Do we have any in common? What have you enjoyed using last year? Let me know in the comment section.

Until the next post…

Love,
M.

Happy New Year + Sicily Makeup Haul

Dearest Ladies,

First of all, I’d like to wish you a very Happy New Year! 🙂
I spent New Year’s Eve in a square near the duomo in Catania where a concert was being held. We had champagne and sparklers in our bags to celebrate after the countdown. At the countdown there were some amazing fireworks… As for the dress code, the idea was not to freeze to death!

Once again, it has been a while since I blogged but having just returned from Sicily for a holiday with my parents, I thought it would be the time to post a small haul for makeup and beauty products. Sicily was great fun and me and my mum did a lot of shopping but I didn’t get too many products. I must say that I regret not getting a gift pack from Bottega Verde, especially once they went on sale… but my luggage was quite full. I also regret not getting more Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polishes as they were much cheaper than from Malta.

This is what I got…

From Pupa Milano…

I had already tried the Pupa Milano Lasting Colour Gel nail polish here and I also have the gel top coat, so when I saw them I picked up another colour.

Since I used to work with Pupa Milano, I know about the wonders of the Vamp! Mascara. I have it in purple as it was given to me as a gift but it was time to get it in black, so I did.

I also got this make up kit for my fiancé’s mother:

From Kiko I got a concealer (which I needed on the trip) and an eyeshadow stick for myself and a lipstick and an eyeliner for my sister. I love eyeshadow sticks and I find them very practical to create a quick look. I wrote about why you’ll like them here.

While in a shop for decorative items for homes, there was a small stand for a brand called Stillday. My nail polish was chipping so when I saw nail polish I picked up this blue colour and nail polish remover since I didn’t have with me and redid my nails when I was back at the hotel. The nail polish was so cheap… some 1 or 1.50 euros and the nail polish remover was around 2 euros.

Because of the cold weather, my lips started to get dry and chapped and while I did have lipbalms with me, they were not doing the job. I popped in Bottega Verde and chose this one with Argan oil. I must say it’s really effective and the burning sensation I had on my lips was gone in a few hours after a couple of applications.

That’s all! I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope I’ll be able to post again soon. I might be posting a few photos from the trip as there was quite some beautiful scenery.

Love,
M.

P.S.  If you would like the specific number (for colour) for any product, leave a comment down below.

my (mini) NYX Cosmetics collection to date

Dearest Ladies,

Yesterday night I posted about one of the first NYX items I got: the stay matte but not flat powder foundation – click (on the name) to see what I think about it, but I’ll give you a hint: I’ve hit pan.

A while ago I wrote about our own NYX store in Malta and we were also invited to a bloggers’ night. You can read more about the event here: NYX Cosmetics made it to Malta! – bloggers’ event. I bought the Curve eyeliner that night which I really love. We were also given a lovely goodie bag with a number of different products. I haven’t used all of them yet… as I said yesterday, I am now trying to finish a number of products. I will be getting to the rest of the NYX stash when I’ve cleared up a few other products. But these below are all of my NYX products to date:

My NYX loves 🙂

And here are a few photos of some of the products… (You can see more photos here)

Do you have and use any of the items I have? Have you been to NYX in Sliema yet? What are you waiting for? 🙂

Don’t forget to like all.things.lady on Facebook to get daily updates and fun shares throughout the day!

P.S. Just leave a comment if you’d like the name or shade number of any of these products 😉

Love,
M.
